Our Values at Healthy Way Consulting

At Healthy Way Consulting, we support not-for-profit & public sector organizations in creating a healthy way forward by moving ideas from conception to impact through grant writing, program evaluation, and providing technical support. Our core values guide us to help make a positive impact on communities that need support. We approach our work with the conviction that every person deserves to fully participate in their community and live a healthy life.
Social Enterprise
You might have heard the term social enterprise before, but what does it mean, and how does it apply to Healthy Way Consulting? A social enterprise is an organization that does work that leads to social benefit for traditionally marginalized communities, and the outcome is that people are healthier and enjoy a greater sense of well-being. Any organization that works with a social enterprise reaps the benefits of programs that champion ethical practices in programs, research, and projects that serve the public.
Healthy Way is committed to business practices that support non-profit organizations and charities, such as:
- A 25% discount for non-profits
- No nickel-and-diming
- Fair rates without excessive scoping
Versatility
We are an agile young startup, and we pride ourselves in our ability to adapt to a wide variety of projects, policies, and practices. No matter what the needs of your organization and clients are, we will support you in making your process more equitable and efficient.
Some examples of the work we do include:
- Grant writing – Ensuring the equity and clarity of grants and increasing the likelihood of funding.
- Program evaluation – Assessing the impact, equity, and quality of programs for maximum benefit to the communities they serve.
- Technical support – Automating repetitive administrative tasks with Microsoft Forms, SharePoint Lists, and Power Automate, allowing you to spend more time on meaningful work.
Community
We are dedicated to having a positive impact on the health and well-being of communities and individuals through our work. By valuing people’s lived experiences and acknowledging how the social determinants of health affect communities and individuals, we approach every project with the goal of optimizing current systems to create positive change. We work with organizations knowing that at the heart of any community project, the perspectives of community members provide valuable insight every step of the way.
Our goal at Healthy Way is to serve communities and families, supporting programs that focus on topics such as:
- Environment and climate change
- Housing and homelessness
- Healthy cities and planning
- Poverty reduction
- Education
- Transportation
- Public health
Empowerment
We provide organizations with the tools they need to make evidence-based decisions that will create healthier and more equitable communities for everyone. This means empowering organizations to help the community by providing them insight on understanding their client’s needs, lived experiences, and priorities. Past work we have done for charities and non-profits includes:
- Assessing the impact of a free children’s recreation pass that encourages greater physical activity throughout the year.
- Developing recommendations that support easier access to primary care physicians for vulnerable populations in Southwestern Ontario.
- Developing evidence and recommendations for planning healthy rural communities.
Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion
Championing equity, diversity, and inclusion begins with helping organizations support traditionally marginalized and disadvantaged communities due to characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and ability. By doing so, we are ensuring that our work has a meaningful impact on equity for communities and individuals that need it most. Some ways that we have advocated for this cause include:
- Conducting interviews and surveys that assess the barriers vulnerable communities face when seeking a primary care physician.
- Assessing the accessibility of recreation facilities for school-aged children.
- Making evidence-based recommendations for policies to promote active transportation for school journeys developed through a literature review, surveys, and interviews.
