Support for School Boards
Healthy Way Consulting can provide two types of expertise to school boards across Southwestern Ontario:
- Program Evaluation; and
- Policy Development.
Program Evaluation. Over the last 10 years, our owner / operator, Dr. Andrew Clark, has been a post doctoral fellow and senior research associate at Western University’s Human Environments Analysis Laboratory, responsible for the development and implementation of a number of program evaluations focusing on outcomes related to healthy schools, curriculum development, and planning. This experience has been supplemented with his experience working on School Council, Home & School Association, and an Attendance Area Review Committee at North West London School, for which he has had media appearances on CBC Radio London, Global London Radio, CTV News, and in the Londoner newspaper. Example projects include the evaluation of the Ontario Student Nutrition Program, School Travel Planning, the Grade 5 ACT-i-Pass Program, the Go Green Travel Clean program, and attendance area planning for Sir Arthur Currie PS.
Policy Development. Andrew also has experience on policy development for the Ministry of Education and local School Boards, through his participation in a MITACS funded project in collaboration with the Human Environments Analysis Laboratory and Green Communities Canada. In this project, Andrew led a team of researchers at Western University to conduct a policy scan of school board and municipal policies related to active school travel. The policy scans led to extensive public consultation with experts from schools, school boards, bus consortiums, municipalities, and non-profits from across Ontario to determine how policy can be changed to meet the needs of communities across the province. Finally, the results of this consultation were developed into actionable policy recommendations that could be adapted for use in urban, suburban, and rural environments.
